Three Kinds of Housing Stock, Three Different Approaches

Historic bungalows near downtown and Margrace Mill Village. Some of Kings Mountain's oldest homes date to the 1919 mill village era, with original craftsman trim, wood clapboard siding, and construction that predates 1978 lead paint standards. These homes need careful surface testing and lead-safe prep before any sanding or scraping, plus trim work that respects the original craftsman details instead of erasing them with heavy caulk and square edges.

Mid-century homes on the established streets. The bulk of Kings Mountain's housing was built around 1970 on tree-lined streets radiating out from downtown. These homes are past their second or third repaint by now, which usually means multiple layers of old paint, some chalking, and trim that's been painted shut at the joints more than once. We strip back to a sound surface rather than adding another layer on top of a failing one.

Newer construction in Gold Run, Crocker Ridge, and similar north-side subdivisions. Builder-grade paint and trim typically need their first real repaint within 5-8 years, and HOA-governed communities often have an approved color palette we can work from or help you submit a sample to.

Straight Edge Painting pros did an absolutely fantastic job painting the exterior of my 2700 square-foot home. They came out the same day to price the job. They were less than half the price of another company which I had contacted and Straight Edge completed the job in one day. The team spent more than an hour pressure washing the house. The paint job was top shelf. The house looks beautiful! Big thanks to Wes (owner) and his very professional team. I didn't know what quality painting was until I hired Straight Edge. Wes is quick to respond, and scheduling is a breeze. The painters meticulously protect the floors, cabinets and fixtures (etc.) to prevent unwanted spatters. They are skilled, courteous and professional. Nice clean-up job afterward. And the value is excellent - I am very pleased with their prices and their workmanship.
